Our History
In 2005, in Bothell, WA, Jim Banks started Hello Moving with one goal: to help people move safely and affordably. The company was never about dominating the market. It was built to offer honest, reliable service with personal attention.
Key Milestones
- 2005 — Hello Moving was founded in Bothell, WA by Jim Banks with one truck and a goal: provide reliable moving services without overpromising. From the start, the company focused on local residencial and apartment moves.
- 2006–2010 — The company expanded through referrals. It added a second truck and began handling small office and commerical moves. By 2010, demand allowed full weekly scheduling.
- 2011 — Hello Moving became a full service provider, offering packing, storage, and handling of fragile items like piano and pool table. Crews were trained for specific tasks, including work with furniture, equipment, and disassembly.
- 2015 — The company earned full interstate authorization. This allowed expansion into cross-state moving. Insurance coverage was improved. Long-haul and long distance requests became a core part of the business.
- 2019 — Hello Moving introduced online booking, digital inventory systems, and GPS tracking. Express 1 hour moving was launched in limited areas. The fleet was updated with eco-friendlier trucks.
- 2020 — During the pandemic, Hello Moving implemented contactless protocols. Moves were prioritized for essential workers and emergency cases. Safety rules and flexibility became key.
- 2022 — Focus shifted to employee training, safety, and benefits. New crews were hired to handle bulky items like jacuzzis, machinery, and shed transport. Student and college services were optimized.
- 2024 — The company now handles hundreds of monthly moves. Services include local, interstate, residencial, and commerical jobs. Crews are assigned based on experience. Insurance is offered for all item types. White glove moving is available.
Mission
Hello Moving has no plans to become a national chain or enter every market. Our focus remains on thoughtful, deliberate growth. In the next few years, we plan to:
Expand to two new cities in the Pacific Northwest
Upgrade our fleet to include electric trucks
Launch an app to streamline booking and real-time communication
Create a scholarship fund for student clients
Improve accessibility services for senior and disabled customers
Offer expanded white glove moving options for high-value and fragile items
Most importantly, we plan to keep listening — to our clients, our team, and the communities we serve. We believe every move matters. That’s how it started. That’s how it continues. And that’s where Hello Moving is headed next.
